The School of Marine Science and Technology at Newcastle University

Established in 1834 the University of Newcastle upon Tyne is one of the oldest civic universities in the UK and a member of the prestigious Russell Group, an association of the twenty leading research-intensive universities of the UK. Today the University is one of the UK’s leading academic institutions with a vibrant student population and a thriving research programme. The School of Marine Science and Technology brings together experts from a variety of disciplines (science, economics, technology and engineering) to form a centre of excellence concerned with all aspects of marine activity. The School’s standing as the number one ranked centre of excellence in marine related teaching and research was confirmed in the recent UK-wide Research Assessment Exercise (RAE). Annually more than 300 students, from more than 40 countries, register for accredited degrees delivered by the School in various marine technology, engineering and science related streams. John is programme director of the MSc in Marine Transport with Management , a one year full-time programme that attracts students from all over the world.
